The Great and Little Wicomico River Homes For Sale
The Great Wicomico and Little Wicomico Rivers are located on either side of Route 360 in Northumberland County in Virginia's Northen Neck.
As the name would suggest, the Great Wicomico is the larger of the two and meets the Chesapeake Bay via Ingram Bay. The Great Wicomico River is a 15.2-mile-long river in the U.S. state of Virginia, located approximately 60 miles northeast of Richmond. It is flanked by several creeks including Cockrell’s Creek and Ingram Bay. It is home to expansive oyster farming and is popular among boaters, sailors and fishermen. It offers deep water and broad views.
The Little Wicomico River is a 9-mile-long river that is mostly tidal, flowing into Chesapeake Bay at the junction of the south shore of the Potomac River, which is also the Maryland-Virginia boundary, with Chesapeake Bay. The inlet of the Little Wicomico has a popular white sand beach on its northern side and rock jetties on either side as it empties into the Bay. Smith Point Lighthouse is nearby. Due to the more subdued nature of the Little Wicomico River, it is popular with kayakers and other fans of smaller and calmer water.
The search below includes the Wicomico's tributaries, including Bridge Creek, Ellyson Creek, Slogh Creek, Sharps Creek, Cockrell Creek, Penny Creek, Cobbs Creek, and Horn Harbor, as well as homes along Ingram Bay.
